Kehonkuvia – Poster exhibition
My first ever exhibition, Kehonkuvia, was held in Oulu Urban Culture's Taidekontti. During the pandemic I started to illustrate women, using myself as a model to achieve correct proportions. In these images, the purpose of the body is simply to be a body; not a particular shape or size, but merely a human form in various poses. I'm not trying to make my waist look narrow or position my legs in flattering, length-enhancing postures. I allow my belly rolls to be visible. When the goal shifts away from aesthetics and fitting into a certain mold, it becomes easier to see oneself as a whole, where external appearance plays a secondary role in determining one's worth. However, the women in the posters don't necessarily represent me, femininity, or any specific group or individual. They are fictional characters and visualized expressions of my thoughts.
